LIT Open Innovation Center

Launched in 2019, the LIT Open Innovation Center is the Johannes Kepler University’s (JKU) hub for promoting knowledge transfer and collaboration.

Through the construction of the center, the university management wanted to create a space that nurtured and encouraged coworking, bringing researchers and businesses together to create an ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship, facilitating co-creation. Located on the JKU campus in the north of Linz, the award-winning sustainable coworking space is made out of wood and has a modern, spacious and welcoming atmosphere. The building is also home to the LIT Factory, which is a teaching and research center for science and manufacturing of plastic materials.

Primarily aimed at businesses and organizations that work in the fields of technology, engineering, digital transformation and plastics sciences, the open plan space offers a range of flexible all-inclusive membership packages starting at €300 ($325) per month. All occupants have access to an array of facilities, including fifteen meeting rooms of varying sizes and styles, five kitchens, numerous indoor and outdoor breakout spaces as well as a large and fully tech-equipped event space which accommodates up to 200 people. At the heart of the Center’s mission is a strong sense of community and throughout the year there are numerous opportunities for all businesses to network and get to know fellow innovators.
